Iodine Tincture B.P. (British Pharmacopoeia) is a brownish-yellow, alcohol-based topical antiseptic liquid typically composed of 2.5% w/v iodine and 2.5% w/v potassium iodide dissolved in aqueous ethanol. It is used as a first-aid microbicidal agent to disinfect minor cuts, scrapes, abrasions, and insect bites.
